Primeira Escolha Empreendimentos LTDA (Primeira Escolha) today announced that it appointed Global TeleVentures, Inc to direct the launch of its fixed telephony services in Areas 11 to 19, covering Sao Paolo State.

Global TeleVentures makes first investment in the USA to provide high speed Internet and VoIP service in poorly served markets. Global TeleVentures today announced that it purchased 25% of Powerline Telco, Inc (www.powerlinetelco.net) a company that meets the growing demand for broadband and voice over IP (VoIP) in the USA in communities that are underserved by the dominant alternatives - DSL or Cable.

Mark Elliott, PLT's Managing Director was quoted as saying, "High speed always on access to the Internet is a necessity, not luxury for 24m+ households and businesses using it today. However, its availability is limited to communities that are within a three mile radius of a local exchange carrier switch equipped to deliver an asymmetrical digital subscriber line (DSL). Or, in communities where the number of home passed is high enough for the cable company to upgrade their coaxial cable to use cable modems. The result is that at the start of 2004, 67% of the nation has no or little choice if they want broadband. The technology is now available to allow the nation's electric power supply networks to be used for broadband voice and data transmission, which in turn offers a cost effective solution to the "last mile" problem. PLT can generate lucrative returns both near and long term.
